No I am not talking about the Newton’s apple. The Apple I am talking about is Steve Job’s Apple – the Apple that once was know for famous products which are easy –to-use and easy-to-understand. There are more and more critiques from normal users to design professionals in recent years about Apple’s wrong decision making both in hardware and software design. Texo Design – web application development australia will share to you some ideas about this. Let’s take a look!
Apple hardware is universally more expensive than its competitors which run Windows or Linux. However, Apple sales always skyrocket thanks to its minimal but beautiful and intuitive design. Having said that, Apple has gradually losing its magic, making some of the most difficult to understand decisions in recent years such as the charging port position of the Apple Magic Mouse 2 or the way they allow charging the Apple pencil using the iPad pro. These products by all means are not intuitive nor user-friendly products.
The most recent decisions that apple made which pissed the whole Apple fan community is the removing the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 but still leave it on the newest MacBook line up. Apple has left a really bad taste in its fan boys’ and fan girls’ mouth by showing its lack of consistency in all of its products.
I do love Apple products; I really do but honestly I am hesitating to buy new apple gadgets and start considering alternative options. Come on Apple, you can do better!
Before saying anything about the decision that Apple made for its software recently, take a look at one of Steve Job’s quote:
“We had a fundamental belief that doing it right the first time was going to be easier than having to go back and fix it. And I cannot say strongly enough that the repercussions of that attitude are staggering. I’ve seen them again and again throughout my business life.”
Design professionals however had a lots of critiques when its first iOS7 came out. Apple seemed like they did not think carefully about its UI and UX decision for it UI revamp on iOS7. Don Norman – one of the most well-known UX experts stated that: “Apple’s products are getting harder to use because they ignore principles of design.” - (http://www.jnd.org/dn.mss/apples_products_are.html)
Moving to Siri, despite the fact that Apple was the first in the AI assistant game, it seems to lose the battle to Google Assistant – its younger rival from Google. The video below shows the competition between Google Assistant and Siri – made by Marques Brownlee, one of the most famous vloggers on youtube:
In conclusion, Apple is still making huge profits. However, if they want to move forward, they have to take a serious look at what they have done wrong and correct them otherwise they will fail. We have seen great examples of how Nokia failed big time for not changing or how Microsoft has fallen way behind in the mobile industry and is now having a hard time to catch up. As an apple fan boy, I do hope to see a better Apple doing a better job in convincing us – the consumers that their products worth our money.
